Gaucher Awareness Month

October is Gaucher Awareness Month

Each October, our community comes together to recognize Gaucher Awareness Month – a time to elevate understanding, amplify patient voices, and strengthen connections across the Gaucher community. Gaucher Awareness Month is kicked off by celebrating international Gaucher Awareness Day on October 1.

At the Gaucher Community Alliance, this month is more than awareness – it’s action. We are committed to ensuring that individuals and families affected by Gaucher disease feel seen, supported, and empowered with the knowledge and resources they need.

Why Awareness Matters

Gaucher disease is a rare genetic condition that is often misunderstood or underdiagnosed. By raising awareness, we help shorten the diagnostic journey, improve access to care, and foster greater empathy and recognition within the broader public and medical communities.

How We Show Up

Throughout the month, we bring the community together through:

  • Educational webinars and expert-led discussions
  • Patient and caregiver storytelling campaigns
  • Social media initiatives to spread awareness and advocacy
  • Opportunities to connect, learn, and support one another
  • A way to be heard and raise your voice during the entire month of October
